Members Answer Consumer Mortgage Questions Live on
KCRA-TV 3 On October 3, 2007 from 5:00
a.m. to 7:00 p.m., CAMB is partnering with KCRA
Channel 3 on their Consumer Call-in program to
respond to consumers' questions about their
mortgages. Twenty-five CAMB members will be
fielding over 1,000 calls and emails from
consumers throughout the day. There are 250 major
media markets in the United States; the Sacramento
market ranks 19th with KCRA broadcasting to
approximately 15 counties in northern California.
KCRA officials are very pleased with the call
volume and the level of knowledge and expertise
that the CAMB members are providing to consumers.
KCRA anticipates that the call volume for this
consumer mortgage program will break call-in
volume records.

CAMB Warns Consumers About
Misleading Advertisements to Pay Off Holiday
Debt
CAMB is warning consumers to be
aware of advertisements that encourage consumers
to refinance their homes in order to pay off
holiday debt. Numerous advertisements have been
appearing across the state in mailboxes and on fax
machines offering loan programs with various
incentives from free appraisals to no loan fees.
The same advertisements also claim to offer loan
programs with rates as low as 1 percent and some
are even lower. These ads also state that
consumers with poor credit or a recent bankruptcy
or foreclosure can get approved for these
loans.
CAMB Issues 2007 Mortgage
Industry Forecast
CAMB issued its annual Mortgage
Forecast projecting that interest rates will
remain favorable in 2007 with the rates likely to
remain within one percent (1%) of current low
levels. Additionally, recent homebuyers (within
the last several years) who used an interest-only
or adjustable rate mortgage are turning to fixed
rate loans as they refinance and take advantage of
equity. However, despite the recent stabilization
of the housing market, many new buyers are still
forced into alternative loan products due to high
housing prices. Finally, for home shoppers, the
first half of 2007 is likely to be the best time
to get a good deal on a new or existing
home.
